Prof. Dr. Faruk Kerem Giray

Kerem Giray graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1998. Afterwards he completed his post graduate studies on European Union Law at Marmara University European Union Institute in 2000. He continued his PhD in Private Law at Istanbul University Institute of Social Sciences and completed his thesis study at University of London, Institute of Advanced Legal Studies. He earned his PhD degree from Istanbul University Social Sciences Institute with his thesis on “Securing the Return of Children Wrongfully Removed or Retained in Private International Law”.
He worked as a research assistant between 1999 and 2007 at Istanbul Law Faculty Department of Private International Law. He earned a scholarship from the Council of Higher Education and worked as a visiting researcher at Georgetown University Faculty of Law between 2011 and 2012. He was appointed as associate professor based on his thesis on “Compensation Arising from Expropriation in International Investment Arbitration and The Methods Used in the Calculation of Compensation” in 2013. Giray was appointed as professor with his book titled “Statute of Limitations in Private International Law and Procedural Law”.
Giray currently continues his academic career at Istanbul University Law Faculty, Private International Law Department. He teaches “Private International Law” to undergraduates, “International Family and Child Law” and “Disability Rights” to LL.M. students and “The Legal Regime of International Investment Arbitration” to postgraduate students at Istanbul Law Faculty. Giray has many published articles and five books.
