Our Team | Erdem Attorney Partnership

Prof. B. Bahadır Erdem is the founding partner of Erdem Attorney Partnership. He is a professor of private international law at Istanbul University Law School and also acts as a lawyer, legal advisor and international arbitrator. He has been appointed as an arbitrator in many ICC cases.

Prof. Erdem was the first official member representing Republic of Turkey in the Governing Council of International Institute for the Unification of Private Law (UNIDROIT) and carried out this duty between 2014 and 2019. He is still an honorary member of the UNIDROIT Governing Council. Bahadır Erdem served as the member of the Board of Directors of Turkish Patent Institute between 2004 and 2010. Bahadır Erdem, moreover, has participated in the drafting workshops of the Code on Private International and International Procedural Law Nr.5718 Dated 27.11.2007 by drafting some of the texts of the Code and played an active role as a Commission member for the Ministry of Justice till the Code was passed by the Parliament.

Prof. Erdem has written a significant number of academic articles, which have been published in recognized international and domestic law journals. He has also written several academic books and books focusing on practice.

Bahadır Erdem provides legal services on international arbitration, mediation, international commercial contracts, intellectual property law, recognition and enforcement of foreign court judgements and arbitral awards, conflicts on international child abduction, investment disputes, foreign direct investment, nationality law and law of foreigners.

Prof. Erdem, furthermore, gives lecturers on private international law, conflict of laws, international civil procedural law, international intellectual property law, Turkish nationality law at Istanbul University Law School.
